China's top basketball recruit, Fanbo Zeng, is decommitting from Gonzaga to join G League Ignite, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.
Zeng, a 6-foot-10 forward and four-star recruit at Windermere Prep in Windermere, Florida, committed to the Bulldogs last fall three years after arriving in the United States from China.
Former Gonzaga assistant Tommy Lloyd, who was appointed Sean Miller's successor at Arizona on April 15, recruited the 18-year-old. Lloyd's departure has reportedly played a factor in Zeng's desire to pursue a spot with G League Ignite instead.
Ignite is comprised of both prodigious talents foregoing the collegiate path and savvy veterans that qualified for the G-League playoffs last season.
Jalen Green and Jonathan Kuminga, who are both Ignite products, are projected top-five picks in the upcoming NBA Draft, while teammates Daishen Nix and Isaiah Todd are also anticipated draft selections.
Five-star recruit Michael Foster announced on Friday that he's also turning down collegiate interest from Florida State and Georgia to play for the Ignite next season.
