The Brooklyn Nets are surrounded by controversy at the moment given the surfaced video depicting Kyrie Irving alleging attending a 30-year-old birthday bash for sister Asia.
Irving, 28, has missed the past three games for the Nets due to “personal reasons” with no timetable from the team announced.
Nets general manager Sean Marks released a statement to the media on Tuesday afternoon .

The Nets are set to face fellow New York borough outfit New York Knicks for the first time during the 2020-21 NBA season on Wednesday with Kevin Durant rolling and looking like his former MVP self.
In the meantime, the fallout over the leaked video featuring Irving and the Brooklyn star’s disappearance are sure to be on everybody’s minds with an explanation from the New Jersey native looming.
Through seven appearances this season, Irving has averaged 27.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 6.1 assists in 33.0 minutes per game, shooting 50.4 percent from the field and 42.6 percent from 3-point range. The times Irving has shared with Durantâmuch-anticipated given the former Golden State Warriors two-time Finals MVP’s absence from the entirety of the 2019-20 campaignâhave been nothing short of marvelous.
The Nets look like one of the most potent offenses in the NBA when Irving and Durant are healthy and sharing the court, but Kyrie’s absence has been a less desirable and dramatic feature of the early part of the Brooklyn season.
While Irving is still absent due to personal reasons, Marks pointed out that the Nets are working alongside the NBA to determine if he violated the league’s health and safety protocols. If the NBA decides that he did violate the guidelines that the league has put together, then Irving could face an expensive fine.
The NBA will have to figure out if the released videos were recent enough to punish him. As for the Nets, Marks made it clear it is up to Irving when he wants to discuss his lengthy absence.
When the Nets play the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday, Irving will miss his fourth consecutive game. In the three games Irving has missed, Brooklyn has gone 1-2.
