Ball has every right to be frustrated, though it seems rather pointless to air out his grievances on Twitter.
The Pelicans have been among the more underwhelming teams in Orlando. New Orleans entered the bubble with a real chance to reach a play-in series for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. However, things have not gone according to plan.
New Orleans is 2-4 in Orlando after losing to the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday, with their only wins coming against the Memphis Grizzlies and Washington Wizards.
Alvin Gentry’s squad has been outscored by a combined 28 points, and it has been totally outmatched on the defensive end of the floor. Opponents have been torching them from beyond the arc, and Zion Williamson has been incredibly slow in his rotations.
However, Lonzo Ball has been a glaring weakness as well. Ball and Williamson were the only Pelicans starters who finished in the negatives in terms of plus-minus on Sunday. Additionally, Ball is a cumulative -50 in six games.
Lonzo remains a decent playmaker in transition, but he has looked very tentative and has not shot the ball well from beyond the arc after shooting very efficiently from deep prior to the suspension of play in March.
