Philadelphia 76ers teammates Joel Embiid and Shake Milton had a heated exchange at the end of the first quarter against the Indiana Pacers on Saturday night. Following their disappointing 127-121 loss to the Pacers, the Sixers All-Star center downplayed the shouting match they had.
“It’s basketball. Everybody makes mistakes. It happens. We got to come in and get better. But it’s nothing, it happens everywhere. We discussed what’s going on and you move on, you find a solution. But it’s nothing. It happens. It happens on every team you just figure it out and you move on,” Embiid said, per Rich Hofmann of The Athletic.
Embiid probably didn’t like the way Milton passed him the ball on the final possession of the first quarter, which almost caused a turnover for the Sixers. The Cameroonian made sure to let the 6-foot-5 guard know about it when they headed to the bench.
It seems like Milton didn’t like the way Embiid relayed the criticism. He certainly looked like he wanted to get all the smoke with the 7-foot-1 big man.

For fans, seeing two teammates go at it like Joel Embiid and Shake Milton did isn’t a normal occurrence. However, this is probably just another day in the office for professionals.
Certainly, there’s a lot more incidents like these that go on behind the scenes during practices and film room sessions. Disagreements can happen among teammates and in-game spats can’t be avoided in the heat of the moment.
The Sixers, however, have bigger problems than this seemingly normal disagreement between Embiid and Milton. Philadelphia dropped to sixth place in the Eastern Conference standings following the loss to the Pacers.
Embiid had an outstanding night with 41 points, 21 rebounds, and three blocks on the evening. Milton, meanwhile, went scoreless in his 19 minutes on the floor. JoJo’s monster game obviously went to waste with Philadelphia seeking to move up in the East standings.
