Memphis Grizzlies forward Justise Winslow has been ruled out of the remainder of the season after suffering a hip injury, according to the team.
Winslow suffered a fall during an intra-squad scrimmage and was sidelined for the remainder of practice. A medical evaluation revealed the hip injury, which will effectively push him out of the restart.
The Grizzlies had just started to get their cogs back in action, as they got a healthy Jaren Jackson Jr. and Brandon Clarke into Training Camp 2.0. Losing Winslow puts them out of another potential creator, as the forward has logged a lot more minutes at point guard this season.
Winslow was acquired in a trade with the Miami Heat, where he had started to develop as a primary playmaker. The experiment continued in Memphis, where he showed signs of brilliance as a secondary option to starting point guard Ja Morant.
Winslow is expected to make a full recovery by the start of next season, which is still up in the air with a potential Dec. 1 start date.
The fifth-year wing has been riddled with injuries this season and has made only five starts through 11 appearances.
