Lakers shooting guard Avery Bradley has already dropped out of the games. His son, Liam, has a history of struggling to recover from respiratory illnesses and it is unlikely that he would have been medically cleared to enter the Orlando bubble with his family.
Howard was averaging 7.5 points and 7.4 rebounds for the Lakers in 2019-20 before games were suspended in March. The eight-time All-Star was JaVale McGee’s backup at center. Howard was shooting 73.2 percent from the field.
Multiple players in the NBA are concerned about the “bubble” games since the state of Florida has seen a huge spike in COVID-19 cases. Howard is also one of the players who feel that the return of sports will take all the attention off of the “Black Lives Matter” movement.
The Lakers, led by LeBron James and Anthony Davis, have the best record in the Western Conference. The Purple and Gold will be one of the favorites to win the 2020 championship once the playoffs start, but the loss of Bradley will hurt since he’s an excellent defender.
The Lakers are now hoping that they won’t lose Howard.
