With that said, according to Connor Letourneau of The San Francisco Chronicle, the Warriors’ front office will draft Georgiaâs Anthony Edwards if the franchise does in fact land the first pick and doesn’t trade down.
However, they also have plans in case their pick lands between No. 2 and No. 5.
Sources have indicated to The Chronicle that, if the Warriors land the No. 1 pick and decide not to trade down, theyâll likely take Georgiaâs Anthony Edwards.
If Golden State lands anywhere between No. 2 and No. 5, itâll strongly consider Iowa Stateâs Tyrese Haliburton, Auburnâs Isaac Okoro and Israelâs Deni Avdija, among others.
The Warriors figure to be playoff contenders again in 2020-21 since Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins will share the court together for the first time as a foursome.
If Golden State takes Edwards, they would have three explosive backcourt scorers. Curry and Thompson are two of the best guards in the NBA, while Edwards showed at Georgia he can put the ball into the net effortlessly.
In 32 games for Georgia, Edwards averaged 19.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists. The Atlanta native also shot 40.2 percent from the field.
