Houston Rockets star Russell Westbrook’s NSFW-filled words apparently stuck with Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr. While talking to Bill Murray in his “Flying Coach” podcast with Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll, Kerr recalled one of his favorite quotes of all time and it came from the 2016-17 NBA MVP.

Kerr: “Russell Westbrook has one of my favorite quotes ever. He said: ‘I have been blessed with the gift of not giving a f–k.'”
Murray: “That’s not his line. I don’t think he made that one up.”
Kerr: “(Laughing) Maybe he didn’t, but he used it. There’s something about it that’s true. It doesn’t work if you literally don’t care. But if you can play as if you’re just free and loose — and you’re having fun — that’s what we’re all looking for.”
Apparently, Westbrook’s original quote read as: “I’ve been blessed with talent to not give a f—.”
On the conversation/criticism about his game, he says heâs been disengaged from that since he started playing basketball.

Westbrook said this sometime during the 2018-19 season back in his days with the Oklahoma City Thunder as an answer to those who criticize his style of play.
Pundits of the former MVP often find fault with him for his erratic play on the court and questionable shot selection. His detractors point to his unwillingness to adapt and change his game for the betterment of the team.
However, this 2019-20 season, it seems like Westbrook has turned the corner. Brodie’s debut campaign with Houston started out slowly. But as soon as the calendar flipped to 2020, Westbrook changed his game completely and focused on attacking the basket. He stopped shooting a ton of 3-pointers, a previously problematic aspect of his game.
