Former lottery pick Payne waived by Bulls

The Chicago Bulls have waived fourth-year point guard Cameron Payne following their trade Thursday with the Memphis Grizzlies.
The Bulls sent shooting guard Justin Holiday to the Grizzlies for shooting guards Wayne Selden and MarShon Brooks, as well as two second-round draft picks. The deal became official late Thursday night.
Payne has averaged 5.7 points and 2.7 assists while primarily coming off the bench in 31 games. He was originally drafted by the Oklahoma City Thunder with the No. 14 overall selection in 2015.
He was traded to the Bulls in 2016-17, but appeared in just 25 games last season after undergoing foot surgery.
Payne was primarily stuck behind Kris Dunn (when healthy) and Ryan Arcidiacono in the Bulls’ point-guard pecking order this year.
As reported earlier, the Bulls also intend to trade Brooks, as he is not expected to report to the team.
