At the moment, there is no clear timetable for the return of Golden State Warriors prized big man James Wiseman. The 20-year-old was originally expected to return some time in January, but the fact that he had to undergo an arthroscopic procedure on his injured knee further pushed back his season debut.
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr recently spoke out about Wiseman’s extended rehab process. According to the Dubs shot-caller, he too has been left at a loss by Wiseman’s current predicament:
Kerr then went on to admit that at this point, there has been some growing frustration brought about by the injury, particularly from the end of Wiseman himself:
The Warriors should still get Wiseman back at some point this season but it is completely understandable that the frustration is starting to boil over — both with the Dubs and for Wiseman himself. The former Memphis standout played just 39 games in his rookie campaign last year before suffering a season-ending injury and he has not taken the floor since.
The good news for the young Dubs center is that he still remains to be part of Golden States’ plans for the future. Earlier reports revealed that the Warriors have no intention of including Wiseman in potential trade talks as the deadline draws closer. The Dubs still consider their second overall pick from the 2020 NBA Draft as a key piece of their core and they certainly intend to keep him for the long haul.
