The Golden State Warriors superstar Klay Thompson made his long-awaited return after missing 941 days of NBA action Sunday night. The last time we saw Thompson on an NBA court was in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals. The Warriors would go on to lose the finals to the Toronto Raptors without the services of both Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant.
Sadly, the Warriors will still not have the entire original Warriors “Big Three” Sunday night. As reported by The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Draymond Green experienced left calf tightness during warmups and was only available for the opening tip.

Golden State’s Thompson looked good in pregame and looked to not miss a beat early on. He sank his first shot attempt less than a minute into the game. He caught the ball coming around a screen near the top of the key and drove, sinking a tough floater in the lane.
However, he would go on to miss his next few shots. Thankfully for Dubs fans, Stephen Curry came out on fire. Curry sank four shots from downtown in the opening quarter on five attempts. He has 14 of the team’s 24 points.
The Warriors entered Sunday’s contest against the Cleveland Cavaliers 29-9, a half game behind the Phoenix Suns for the top spot in the Western Conference. Golden State has been a bit inconsistent lately, which has allowed the Suns to surpass them and the Utah Jazz to quietly get into the race for the top of the west.
