Rumors: Knicks open to extension talks with Mitchell Robinson

The New York Knicks have had a very busy offseason as they worked to resign some of their own free agents and brought in Kemba Walker and Evan Fournier.
Now it seems as though Knicks president Leon Rose has shifted some of that attention to resigning center Mitchell Robinson to an extension. That, according to Marc Berman of the New York Post.
New York is in a peculiar spot with Robinson. When he’s healthy, he’s been a dynamic shot blocker and rim runner for the Knicks who has displayed his athleticism on both ends of the floor. But the problem for Robinson has been his availability. He played in just 31 games last year and only 61 the year prior to that as he has already dealt with plenty of injuries early on in his career.
Rose and the rest of the front office resigned Nerlens Noel and Taj Gibson this offseason, putting less pressure on them to work out something with Robinson right away. The risk of course, is that if Robinson shows out at the beginning of the season like he’s capable of, the price could shoot up for the Knicks.
It’ll be interesting to follow along with and see if a deal gets done before the season that both sides like.
