The New York Knicks made a flurry of moves to create more salary cap space ahead of free agency.
New York has declined their $15.7-million team option on Bobby Portis and waived veterans Taj Gibson and Elfrid Payton, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.
The Knicks also waived big man Kenny Wooten and chose not to tender a qualifying offer to Damyean Dotson, Steve Popper of Newsday Sports reports.
Additionally, New York won't pick up its $8-million team option on 3-point specialist Wayne Ellington, a source told SNY's Ian Begley.
New York now has $40 million in cap space available, according to ESPN's Bobby Marks. Only the Atlanta Hawks have more financial flexibility this offseason.
