Giannis Antetokounmpo reportedly had a three-hour meeting with the Milwaukee Bucks front office, as the two parties tried to hash out the future of the newly-crowned Defensive Player of the year (hopefully) in Milwaukee.
According to Eric Nehm and Sam Amick of The Athletic, the sit-down went really well, and both the Bucks brass and Giannis himself seem to be happy with how the meeting played out:
Sources say all parties left in good spirits and with a sense of synergy that the Bucks certainly hope continues. The meeting between Antetokounmpo and Lasry does not solidify Antetokounmpoâs future in Milwaukee, but it does serve as an important first step in one of the most important offseasons in the franchiseâs history.
It is worth noting that per league rules, the Bucks are not allowed to enter contract talks with Giannis Antetokounmpo at this point. They actually had to sign a document to testify to the same. So unless the Bucks were willing to accept a hefty fine (again) form the league, then they probably steered clear of any extension talks during the recent meeting.
For his part, Giannis took to Twitter following the sit-down, and he did seem to be in good spirits. He sent out a tweet thanking the Bucks fans, while also expressing his excitement for next season — presumably still with the Bucks.
