Another one of U.S. President Donald Trump’s tactics caught the eye of Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr.
On Tuesday, authorities, police, and the National Guard cleared protesters in front of the White House using tear gas, rubber bullets, and flash-bangs. Apparently, they did this to make way for the president to take a dramatic photo opportunity at the St. John’s Episcopal Church, all while holding a Bible, after his speech at the White House. Kerr suggested that with that move, Trump is already plotting his strategy for the upcoming presidential elections this coming November.
“Trump is drawing the battle lines for the election,” Kerr said via Logan Murdock of NBC Sports. “He’s now just paving the way for, ‘I’m the law and order president, and you’ve got to vote for me unless you want the chaos to ensue.’ Which is ironic because chaos has ensued under his own administration. But clearly, this is the beginning of what’s going to be a chaotic campaign. Trump, as he’s been doing for not only his presidency, but for much of his adult life, he’s just trying to divide people and stir up the pot. And as I said, he’s drawing the lines and trying to bring his supporters to the side.”
Steve Kerr isn’t afraid to speak out his mind, especially when it comes to criticizing Trump. Kerr has called out several of the president’s policies ever since the latter came into office in 2016.
The entire country is at a crossroads following the death of George Floyd. The 46-year old African American became another victim of police brutality after now-fired and charged police officer Derek Chauvin kneeled on Floyd’s neck for more than eight minutes, leading to his death. Floyd’s unjust death became the final straw as protests and rallies broke out all over America, calling for a stop to police brutality and racism towards African-Americans.
