The 2020 NBA draft isn’t loaded with potential superstars. But with upside often a factor in drafting, the New York Knicks have their sights set on perhaps the player with the most potential.
Per Marc Berman of the New York Post, the Knicks have LaMelo Ball as the top point guard on their draft board. SNY’s Ian Begley confirmed Berman’s report Saturday.
According to Tankathon, the Knicks currently have a 9.0% chance at earning the top pick and can draft no lower than 10th overall. Per Tankathon, the Knicks’ highest pick odds is currently at No. 7 overall. Ball is a top prospect, and he’ll more than likely be gone if the Knicks pick around the middle of the top 10, per Berman.

With his stellar passing skills, Ball could quickly become one of the best distributors in the NBA. He proved he could run an offense while playing for the Illawarra Hawks in Australia’s NBL. Ball averaged 6.8 assists a game, ranking second in the NBL for assists per game.
Along with his facilitating, Ball also projects to be a solid scorer. In 12 games with the Hawks, Ball scored 17.0 points per game — but it was at a below-average 37.5% from the field.
