An arrest warrant has been issued for Lakers center DeMarcus Cousins after he allegedly threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend after she refused to let their son attend his wedding to Morgan Lang in Atlanta last Saturday.
Mobile police confirmed to USA Today on Thursday an arrest warrant on a third-degree harassing communications charge has been issued for Cousins.
Cousins' ex-girlfriend confirmed to the paper "a warrant has been signed."
The warrant stems from audio of an Aug. 23 phone call between Cousins and his ex-girlfriend, Christy West, which was obtained by TMZ Sports. West was heard speaking to another person she claimed to be Cousins, who told her he'd "put a bullet" in her head.
The Lakers addressed the incident in a statement Tuesday.
"We are aware of the allegation involving DeMarcus Cousins and, of course, take this claim seriously," the statement read. "We are in the process of gathering information and will reserve further comment at this time."
The NBA also said in a statement it was "investigating the allegations."
