The Milwaukee Bucks are signing some backcourt help following the foot injury to point guard Malcolm Brogdon, as relayed by Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.
To help ease the loss of Brogdon, the Bucks are signing veteran point guard Tim Frazier, Haynes reported. In the process, the Bucks have waived forward Christian Wood to create a roster spot.
Frazier, 28, spent 47 games with the New Orleans Pelicans this season, compiling averages of 5.0 points and 4.4 assists. he has also spent time with the Philadelphia 76ers, Portland Trail Blazers and Washington Wizards since going undrafted out of Penn State in 2014.
Meanwhile, Wood was barely used with the Bucks, with most of his time coming with the Wisconsin Herd of the G League.
“If Wood goes unclaimed on waivers, the Bucks will remain responsible for his $1,512,601 cap hit for 2018/19, but would be off the hook for $1,645,357 salary for 2019/20, since it’s non-guaranteed,” Luke Adams of Hoops Rumors explained. “Wood might be an appealing target on waivers though, since his two-year, minimum-salary contract allows any club to place a claim using the minimum salary exception. If he’s claimed, his cap charge would be removed from Milwaukee’s books.”
Brogdon is expected to miss six-to-eight weeks after suffering a minor plantar fascia tear in his right foot.
