The Chicago Bulls are finalizing a trade for Oklahoma City Thunder swingman Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot and cash, according to a report from Shams Charania of Stadium.
Per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Bulls will also waive veteran forward Carmelo Anthony. Initially, it appeared the Bulls were hoping to trade Anthony prior to Thursday’s deadline. Anthony, 33, will become an unrestricted free agent after clearing waivers in 48 hours.
He has appeared in just 10 games this season, averaging 13.4 points, all with the Houston Rockets. The Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks are among those who reportedly have an interest in Anthony.
Luwawu-Cabarrot, 23, is 6-foot-6 and was acquired by the Thunder in July in a three-team deal that involved the Atlanta Hawks and Philadelphia 76ers. He was originally selected by the Sixers with the No. 24 overall draft pick in 2016.
He has appeared in 21 games with the Thunder and is averaging less than 2 points per game.
